Conigma Connect
Apps
Apps bundle ready-to-use functionality that you configure once in a workspace and then run from a page of their own. This page explains what an app is in Connect, why apps exist and how to create, configure, open, export, import, version and delete them.
What are apps?
A flow is logic that you build yourself. An app is the opposite: the app type brings the logic and the user interface, and you only configure it — for example which connections it uses — and decide how it is presented. Once configured, users open the app like any other page of the workspace.
Why apps?
The problem
Many recurring tasks — such as coupling SAP transport requests to a change, checking their quality and following their import — need data from several systems at once. Without an app, users switch between these systems, or someone builds and maintains a dedicated flow and user interface for every team.
What apps solve
Ready to use. The app type ships the logic and the user interface. You only fill in a short wizard.
Configured once, used by many. An app manager sets up the connections once; app users simply open the app and never need to know connection details.
Several variants side by side. You can create several apps of the same type with different configurations, for example one per repository or stage.
Governed like other workspace content. Apps are protected by scopes, versioned, exportable and part of tenant export and import.
Easy to reach from other systems. Every app has a stable address that other systems can link to, optionally without the Connect navigation menu.
FAQ
I do not see the Apps entry in the navigation menu.
The entry is only shown to users with workspace.app.run. Ask a role administrator to grant it.
I see the apps, but no New App or Import button and no actions in the rows.
These require workspace.app.manage.
The Version history icon is missing.
It is only shown when versioning is enabled for the workspace and you have workspace.versioning.read. Versioning requires the Grain Versioning license of the tenant.
I renamed or moved a connection and the app stopped working.
Apps reference their connections by path. Open Configure app, pick the connection again on the Configuration step and save.
Can two apps have the same name?
No. All apps of a workspace are stored in the same /apps directory, so names are unique within the workspace. Apps in different workspaces can have the same name.
Does the export contain passwords or connection details?
No. It contains the name and configuration of the app, which only reference connections by path.
What happens to links after I delete and re-import an app under the same name?
The address of the app page only depends on the name, so links work again once an app with that name exists.
