Conigma™ QCOPY
automatic adaption of Import Queues for
SAP® systems after a system refresh/restore
Functionality:
Conigma™ QCOPY, part of the Conigma™ Suite, ensures that when an
SAP system is copied and rebuild, all required adaptation and
software components to achieve a consistent new configuration
are installed automatically.
Conigma QCOPY allows the user via a simple, intuitive graphical
user interface to rebuild an SAP system into a consistent status
after a system copy, and it also facilitates copying between
different SAP clients. While it is not possible with the SAP
interface to control technical modes how a software component
needs to be installed, such modes are recognised by Conigma
QCOPY and automatically implemented correctly.
Additionally, independent from automating the process of system
copy or a restore from a backup, Conigma QCOPY allows many other
operations on SAP queues, which are also controlled via the
graphical user interface.
Benefits:
With Conigma QCOPY a member of the IT staff without expert knowledge
of SAP can perform a SAP system copy or a system restore, resulting
in significant cost reductions due to the fact that QCOPY can
re-establish the consistency of the rebuild SAP system in a matter
of minutes – while manually building the import queue may consume
several working days of an experienced SAP consultant and is highly
error-prone.
Typical application scenarios:
1. System copy
In order to ensure that their SAP consultants are provided with
up-to-date test data, the IT department in many companies have
to copy the SAP production system back to the SAP quality assurance
(QA) system several times each year. However, after the productive
system has been copied to the QA system, all software components
which were not installed in the productive system yet, but were
already in the QA system, must be recreated, to ensure that no
program modifications or adaptations were lost while copying the data.
Rebuilding the import queue and importing this modified queue to
ensure consistency lasts often several days. During this period
of time the QA system is typically not available for standard
operations, leading to urgent changes being transported directly
into the production system and causing additional rework on the
QA system afterwards. Furthermore this complex process is highly
prone to errors causing additional effort and cost.
2. Restore from database backup
The high dynamics and frequency of changes within a SAP landscape
increases the risk to produce errors leading to a defect and
non-operational QA system, which needs to rebuild by using a
database backup. Also for such a scenario, Conigma QCOPY is an
ideal fit to automatically rebuild the import queue, which needs
to imported to achieve a consistent SAP landscape.
3. Further applications
There are many other cases, where Conigma QCOPY is able support
an efficient, automatic and error-free process regarding the
construction of import queues, i.e. if the user starts with
a plain SAP installation, copying the development system to
the QA system, generation of test clients.
